This Upper Coomera project involved a complete transformation of an outdated backyard into a premium outdoor entertaining area. The existing garden beds, shrubs and ageing structures were removed before constructing a brand-new Merbau hardwood deck and custom timber pergola. The finished result seamlessly extends the home’s living space while providing a stylish and functional outdoor area designed for year-round enjoyment.

When designing this pergola, our goal was to create a space that felt bright, open and comfortable all year round. Rather than blocking out all natural light, we carefully selected Sunlite® Twinwall Opal polycarbonate roof sheets in combination with an open batten pergola design to achieve the perfect balance between sunlight and shade.
This design allows soft, natural light to filter through while reducing the harsh Queensland heat, creating a cooler and more inviting outdoor entertaining area. The result is a space that feels open and connected to the outdoors while still providing excellent protection from the elements.
Combined with the rich tones of the 140 × 22 mm premium Merbau hardwood decking, finished in Intergrain UltraDeck Timber Oil Premium, the completed project delivers a timeless outdoor living area that is as practical as it is beautiful.
